Phoenix, AZ (October 7, 2025) – A vehicle crash left one person critically injured and another hospitalized on Monday night, October 6, on Interstate 17 in central Phoenix. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes between 7th Street and 16th Street.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS), a pickup truck carrying two motorcycles was traveling north on I‑17 when, for reasons still under investigation, it veered left. The truck struck the concrete median wall before rolling onto its driver’s side.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene. Both the driver and the passenger were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The passenger sustained life-threatening injuries, while the driver was also hospitalized. Details about their conditions remain limited.
Authorities confirmed that two dogs were inside the pickup at the time of the crash. Fortunately, neither animal suffered injury. The Arizona Humane Society responded to ensure the dogs’ safety.
DPS continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Officials have not yet determined whether speed, driver distraction, or mechanical failure played a role.
We wish a full and swift recovery for those injured in this crash and send our thoughts to their families during this difficult time.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, rollover crashes account for a substantial share of severe highway accidents. Many occur when drivers lose control due to excessive speed, abrupt lane changes, impaired driving, or mechanical failure. Vehicles carrying heavy loads, such as motorcycles or other cargo, are at greater risk of tipping or rolling during sudden maneuvers.
The consequences of such accidents can be devastating. Victims may suffer head injuries, broken bones, spinal injuries, or internal trauma. Recovery often requires extensive medical care and time away from work. For families, this can mean emotional distress and significant financial strain.
In cases where negligence is suspected, injured victims can seek legal compensation. A skilled Phoenix car accident lawyer can review crash evidence, speak with witnesses, and consult experts to establish liability. Compensation may cover medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and future care needs. This process can also help ensure victims are not left bearing costs due to another party’s recklessness.
