Fatal Car Accidents in Phoenix
Fatal car accidents are a tragic reality in Phoenix and across Arizona. According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), more than 1,100 people died in traffic crashes across the state in 2023. Many of these crashes involved common factors such as failing to yield, distracted driving, or excessive speed.
Intersections, like 18th Street and Greenway Parkway, are frequent locations for serious collisions. Left-turn crashes are especially dangerous because they often involve one vehicle traveling straight at higher speeds. Elderly drivers may face added risks when judging gaps in traffic, increasing the chance of severe outcomes.
Families affected by fatal crashes often face sudden emotional and financial challenges. Funeral expenses, medical bills, and lost income can add significant stress after a loved one’s death. Arizona law allows surviving family members to file a wrongful death claim to seek compensation for these losses.
A wrongful death claim may cover:
-
Funeral and burial costs
-
Medical expenses before death
-
Lost financial support from the deceased
-
Loss of companionship and emotional suffering
Navigating the aftermath of a fatal crash can be overwhelming. Insurance companies may attempt to limit payouts, and liability disputes can arise quickly. Working with a brave wrongful death lawyer in Phoenix can help families protect their rights and secure fair compensation.
An attorney can investigate the crash, gather police and medical reports, consult with experts, and negotiate with insurers on behalf of the family.
