Mesa, AZ – Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash at Brown Rd & Higley Rd

Mesa, AZ (September 18, 2025) – A man died Thursday morning after a two-vehicle crash in Mesa. The collision occurred around 6:20 a.m. near Brown Rd and Higley Rd.

Emergency crews responded to the scene after a van and a semi-truck collided. Authorities confirmed the van driver, identified as Alex Bussing, died at the scene.

The semi-truck driver was also hurt in the crash. Paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition.

Investigators said rain was falling in the East Valley at the time, but weather was not considered a factor in the crash. Detectives are continuing to investigate what caused the collision.
