Gilbert, AZ (September 30, 2025) – A deadly multi-vehicle crash occurred early Tuesday, September 30, on U.S. 60 eastbound near Lindsay Road.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident happened around 2:25 a.m. when a white passenger car rear-ended a semi-truck hauling a fuel tanker. After the impact, the semi-truck moved to the highway shoulder, but the passenger car remained in the travel lanes.
Two additional vehicles then struck the disabled passenger car. Emergency crews rushed to the scene to provide aid. The driver of the white passenger car was taken to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was later pronounced dead. Another individual sustained minor injuries during the collision and received treatment.
The crash shut down the eastbound lanes of U.S. 60 for several hours before reopening around 7:45 a.m. Investigators with DPS are still working to determine the sequence of events and what may have contributed to this tragic accident.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the man who lost his life and also hope for the recovery of the person injured in this crash.
Fatal Car Accidents in Gilbert
Fatal car accidents are a serious concern throughout Arizona, with many occurring on high-speed highways like U.S. 60. Crashes involving multiple vehicles often lead to devastating outcomes because of the force of impact and the likelihood of chain reactions. When trucks and passenger vehicles are involved, the results are often more severe, as smaller vehicles are less able to withstand the damage.
In Gilbert and across the East Valley, common causes of fatal accidents include distracted driving, speeding, impairment, and failure to maintain safe distances between vehicles. Rear-end collisions, like the one reported on U.S. 60, are particularly dangerous when they involve large trucks. Even a moment of inattention at highway speeds can cause a collision with life-altering consequences.
For families who lose a loved one in a crash, the aftermath can be overwhelming. Alongside the grief, there are often financial hardships, including funeral expenses, medical bills, and the sudden loss of income. Surviving victims may face physical recovery, lost wages, and emotional trauma. Arizona law allows victims and families to pursue compensation for these losses, but doing so often requires navigating complex insurance claims and liability questions.
A skilled Gilbert wrongful death lawyer can be an important advocate during this difficult time. An attorney can review crash reports, gather evidence, consult with accident reconstruction experts, and negotiate with insurance companies to ensure victims and families are treated fairly. Legal representation can also help identify all potential sources of compensation, including underinsured motorist coverage or claims against multiple liable parties.
While no legal action can undo the tragedy of a fatal crash, pursuing a claim can ease the financial burden and provide a sense of justice. Families deserve to understand their rights and the options available to them after such a devastating event.
