Mesa, AZ (November 30, 2025) — A woman died on November 29 after a crash at a busy Mesa intersection. The collision happened around 8 p.m. near Guadalupe Road and Ellsworth Road.
Mesa police reported that a Toyota 4Runner traveled east on Guadalupe Road and attempted to turn onto Ellsworth Road. As the driver began her turn, a Honda Civic struck the back end of the 4Runner. Officers said the impact caused only minor damage, but the driver of the 4Runner, a 68-year-old woman, stepped out of her vehicle and said she felt unwell.
Moments later, she collapsed beside her vehicle. Emergency crews rushed her to a local hospital, where she later died. Officials have not confirmed whether she suffered a medical event before or after the collision.
The driver of the Honda Civic stayed at the scene and spoke with police. Officers arrested that driver on suspicion of DUI. Authorities have not released the names of those involved.
Detectives continue to review early evidence and interview witnesses to learn more about what led to the crash. The investigation remains open as officials work to determine the full sequence of events.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones of the victim in this accident.
Fatal DUI Crashes in Mesa
Fatal DUI crashes continue to affect families across Mesa and throughout Arizona. These crashes often happen at busy intersections where heavy traffic creates fast-changing conditions. Even a low-impact collision can lead to severe outcomes, especially when an impaired driver is involved. Alcohol slows reaction time, reduces clear judgment, and increases the chance of errors that cause deadly harm.
Mesa sees steady growth each year, which increases traffic on major roads like Guadalupe Road and Ellsworth Road. As neighborhoods expand, more drivers pass through these intersections at night. Busy traffic, reduced visibility, and higher speeds make even simple turns risky when impaired driving plays a role. Many families experience the devastating impact of these crashes long after the scene clears.
Victims of fatal DUI crashes often face overwhelming challenges. Families may deal with sudden medical bills, funeral costs, and the emotional strain of losing a loved one. Insurance companies may dispute claims or try to reduce payouts, which leaves families without the support they need. These hardships often grow worse when victims do not have legal guidance.
A personal injury attorney can help families navigate these challenges. An attorney can examine police reports, gather witness statements, review medical records, and identify all possible sources of compensation. This approach helps families pursue damages for medical care, lost income, funeral costs, and emotional suffering. Skilled legal support also protects families when insurance companies attempt to undervalue claims.
Arizona law allows families to seek compensation when a negligent or impaired driver causes a fatal crash. While no amount of money can replace a loved one, financial support can ease the burden during an already painful time. Legal guidance ensures that families focus on healing instead of dealing with complicated insurance issues alone.
