Pedestrian Accidents in Phoenix
Pedestrian accidents in Phoenix remain a major safety concern, especially along busy corridors like 35th Avenue and Dunlap Avenue. With heavy nighttime traffic and wide intersections, these areas often pose significant risks to anyone traveling on foot.
According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), over 1,700 pedestrian crashes occurred statewide in 2024, resulting in more than 200 deaths. Many of these tragic collisions involved hit-and-run drivers who failed to stop and provide help.
Pedestrian fatalities often happen at night, when visibility is poor and drivers may be speeding or distracted. In many cases, the victims are struck multiple times by vehicles traveling at high speeds, leaving little chance of survival. Alcohol use, both by drivers and pedestrians, can also contribute to these devastating incidents.
Families who lose loved ones in pedestrian crashes not only suffer emotional grief but also face serious financial challenges. Funeral costs, loss of income, and other expenses can place a heavy burden on those left behind. When a negligent or reckless driver is identified, families may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim.
Through legal action, families can seek compensation for funeral expenses, loss of financial support, emotional suffering, and more. While no amount of money can replace a loved one, holding responsible parties accountable can bring a measure of justice and help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Victims’ families are encouraged to seek guidance from an experienced personal injury attorney. A lawyer can work with investigators, review traffic camera footage, and help identify hit-and-run drivers. Legal support ensures that insurance companies and other parties are held accountable for their actions.
